New GRE Test Format Set For 2011

In December ETS announced that it will be launching a new format of the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) effective 2011. ETS has previously discussed changing in the past but has never followed through. The new test will have many new aspects including a new grading scale, the ability to use an online calculator for the quantitative portion and the elimination of analogies and antonyms in the verbal section. In the past test takers could not go back to a question after they answered it. Now the new format will allow students to go back to questions as frequently as they like within each section. Once they are done with a section, they will not be allowed to go back and change any answers. Students will find that the new test will be increased to three and a half hours in length however they will still have the option for a paper or computer based format.
